Writing

Language has never been a neutral tool in my life.

It has been a condition of movement, adaptation, misreading, survival and now return.

Working across Korean and English, and at times through Spanish-speaking contexts, I approach writing and translation as forms of listening. In my practice, language carries memory, class, migration, silence, and the unstable textures of belonging.

My work in writing, translation, and interpretation moves between literature, visual art, documentary, and cross-cultural exchange. These experiences have shaped the way I think about tone, absence, rhythm, and the politics of representation across media.

Translation as Artistic Mediation

My translation practice has centered on film, documentary, publishing, and contemporary art. I am particularly interested in translation as a form of cross-cultural dialogue and mediation where it carries meaning, social nuance and emotional grain.

Film / Broadcast / Art / Publishing / Research

Across film, broadcast, and contemporary art projects, I have worked on Korean–English and English–Korean translations for documentaries, moving-image works, and cultural publications, including the award-winning documentary The Seven Lives of Han Kang, Boys on the Hill (narrated by actor Teo Yoo), the photo-book Mountain Spirit by IM Heung-soon, and the environmental documentary Sea of the Finless Porpoise, among others.

Creative Development / Cross-Cultural Dialogue

I have also worked as a researcher, interpreter, and cultural mediator in interviews, meetings, and public-facing exchanges involving leading artists, filmmakers, researchers, diplomats, UN representatives, public officials, environmental activists, and international collaborators.
